March 3rd is World Hearing Day. This year’s theme is ‘Childhood hearing loss: act now, here is how!’
The point is to draw attention to the fact that the majority of causes of hearing loss in children can in fact be prevented through public health measures. Today there are 32 million children worldwide with a disabling hearing loss – most of which could have been prevented!
Cochlear is proud to support this event, especially since we know that early identification and intervention is the key. Hearing is crucial to the development of children’s vital speech and language skills. Even minimal hearing loss can lead to learning and behavioural problems for young children, both in school and beyond.
