After being hearing impaired for eight years on her right side, Jeanne, New Jersey, got her hearing back – just in time for the holidays!
Doctors at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital became the first in the US to surgically implant a patient with the FDA-cleared Baha Attract System.
The new type of non-cochlear hearing implant is “a tremendous advantage for many patients,” says Dr. Ian Storper, director of Otology at New York Head and Neck Institute’s Center for Hearing and Balance Disorders, “because it uses magnets to attach the external sound receiver seamlessly to the patient’s head.”
“I like the idea of not having something very visible on my scalp,” says Jeanne. “I think I’ll be a lot more comfortable in crowded rooms.”
